Prepardness for creative souls

I don't know about you... but I've never lived through the apparent downfall of a government. But, man, that sure feels like what we're going through. A failure of epic proportions. And unfortunately, whether we like it or not, it's going to affect all of us.

For decades now, the world has been operating as a global economy. Because we're stronger when we all work together. But the hostile takeover has brought all that to a screeching halt inside the US borders.

So what're we gonna do about it? Well today I have two things: one way to fight the fascism - and one way to be prepared for creative joy.

15 mins of fighting fascism: Project Mail Storm

Project Mail Storm is picking up speed - and this week I have an amazing announcement:

I put together a website! It's kinda bare bones because I made it myself - but it has the toolkit and the templates so you can share it with those who wanna join in.

This week I added in the White House FOIA request letters - and there's a bonus template in there for you to write heartfelt letters as well.

Rooted + Ready: Preparing for Creativity

Yesterday we had to take a trip to Memphis, so we stopped by Michael's to pick up a few art supplies I needed... and you could already see the impacts on the shelves. A LOT of them were picked bare.

I personally have a ton of art supplies - and you probably do, too. But what if you couldn't get your favorite paint or glue for a few months?

Today I wrote a new post on the blog all about art + craft supplies you might need to grab an extra of to stock up on. Along with what things I'm NOT stocking up on, because I thrift them instead.

I know as creatives, putting pressure and restraint on us sometimes enhances our creativity. But other times? You really do need that perfect color you grab over and over and over again.
(Hello... this is why I bought 3 tubes of Windsor + Newton Opera Pink paint.)

There might be some things you *think* are made in America... but often times the raw materials to produce them comes from other places in the world.

Rooted + Ready Series Printable Lists

Last week a couple of you shared that you were having issues printing the stocking lists - so I double checked the format to make sure it was printer ready. I also added in this week's list for creative supplies and put all three (the pantry list, the non-food list, & the creativity list) together in one easy to print guide.

If you're trying to make the most of your Rooted + Ready budget, one of my best kept secrets is shopping estate sales. From furniture to clothes to art supplies - and even light bulbs - estate sales are always my go-to when I'm searching for anything.

But if you've never shopped them, they're kind of intimidating.

So I put together an ebook last year because I got so many questions about them - and right now it's on sale for over 50% off. Learn all the secrets that have literally saved us over $100K on remodeling our house, helped us be stocked up to be rooted + ready... and honestly is just a really fun way to up your thrifting game.

Sending you lots of love, luck + pixie dust!

Because ALL emotions are valid... but some are more effective for change than others. NEW ON THE BLOG They Taught You to Cry Instead of Scream. Let’s Change That. I usually love summer so much that I don’t spend a single second of it in anything but pure joy.But this year hits different. I’m tired. Like… soul tired. I don’t know if it’s just me, if it’s the chaos unfolding around us, or if maybe I just need a damn vacation. Either way, it’s reminding me that balance doesn’t come from the world outside. It comes from within. And around here? That means a little rebellion, a lot of rest, and finding the kind of beautiful distractions that soothe the...

This morning I woke up and realized I have been WAY too overstimulated lately. Even though we're in this magical time of year where the birds are singing and the flowers are blooming... I am seeing signs of frazzledness. From seeing the way people act in person to the comment sections online... as the weather gets warmer, we have to be more intentional about keeping our cool - aka staying calm. It's the most important thing we can do for ourselves and each other. So today, I'm sharing these...
