Yes... but this is how we take our power back

10.19.2025

Yesterday over 7 million people marched in the biggest protest our country has ever seen for the No Kings rallies.

And while we're all still buzzing on the amazing energy yesterday gave us, it's time to lean in and do more.

We're going to have to deconstruct the old ways and pick up some new ones.

Because fighting for democracy doesn't stop at the voting booth.

NEW ON SUBSTACK:
Are We Paying the Price of Politeness?

When I was growing up, we were taught that good people didn’t about two things: Politics and Religion.

It wasn’t polite - and being “nice” was the highest virtue. But honestly, it was all about control. And in the rare occasions someone did dare to bring it up, the subject was changed as quick as a hiccup.

Because when you put those things under scrutiny, they just don’t hold water.

While we’re not going to talk about religion today (maybe next time, though) - the price we paid for political politeness is now clear: silence is how the rot spread.

Illumine subscriptions now open

It's a wild time to be marketing something that is basically a distraction from the darkness... but here we are. And each quarter that I open up subscriptions, I try to add in more and more layers to help you find joy right now.

I know we do things differently around here. I only open up subscriptions quarterly so I can create very intentional magic for YOU. I never wanted to be a mass media publication — I want to create meaningful magic, not magic for the masses.

And if you want to make sure you never miss a moment of that magic, subscriptions are now open with two amazing bonuses this season.

Playlist of the Week: Autumn Magic

While I'm still fumbling around trying to figure out where to switch to for playlists, last week I shared one on Pandora. Unfortunately... Pandora isn't available outside the US and a lot of our sisters are overseas.

So this week we're trying Apple Music. And this playlist is perfect as we slide into Halloween. 🎃

Now go forth and be the light you wish to see in the world right now!

Love you.
Mean it.
Big time.
xoxo,
gina

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) A look into the price of poverty 12.10.2025 The matriarchy will not arrive in one fell swoop. It will arrive in a million tiny actions created by everyday folks. Folks like me and you. But to find those actions, we have to understand the needs, which is why I'm sharing today's substack post... NEW ON SUBSTACK: The Exhaustion of Poverty(what food insecurity truly teaches us) Every time I restock the free little market on our sidewalk, I’m reminded...

Six weeks ago, when we found out that SNAP benefits were going to be withheld due to the US government shutdown, I did what every other woman around me was doing: started searching for food banks to donate to. And that was when I was shocked to learn that there is NO reliable food bank in my town. A town that has 5,000 folks living here. There are a couple of churches that have them randomly (like every 5th Thursday - aka 3-4 times a year)... but there were zero consistent resources where...

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) A little food + food for thought for Thanksgiving 11.24.2025 I don't know about you, but the holiday feels different this year. Maybe it's because we're so exhausted from the onslaught of chaos that we're too tired to think about the "fancy holiday anxiety." So let's shake it up a bit, shall we? I've actually got two posts to share today - one sweet, one savory... Wanna start with dessert? from the blog archives: Banana Pudding Cheesecake...
