Are We Paying the Price of Politeness?
When I was growing up, we were taught that good people didn’t about two things: Politics and Religion.
It wasn’t polite - and being “nice” was the highest virtue. But honestly, it was all about control. And in the rare occasions someone did dare to bring it up, the subject was changed as quick as a hiccup.
Because when you put those things under scrutiny, they just don’t hold water.
While we’re not going to talk about religion today (maybe next time, though) - the price we paid for political politeness is now clear: silence is how the rot spread.
