It's been 10 days since we started our Free Little Market.
And maybe it's last week's elections or maybe it's just that the oxytocin of loving my neighbors is flowing in my veins...
But I feel SO different today.
I don't wake up with dread of what horrible news is going to hit me today.
Instead, I wake up thinking, "How can I help today?"
It's a subtle shift. But man, can I feel it in every cell of my body. So if you're stressed out to the max, let me gently remind you:
This is how the matriarchy starts. By actually caring for one another.
New On SubStack:
How We Started a Free Little Market
When we bought this house, I always dreamed of having a free little farm stand by the road… a place where we could share extra produce from our garden with our community.
But our gardens are still growing, and the stand felt like a “someday” project.
Then November came… and SNAP benefits were delayed.
Out of curiosity, I started looking to see where our town’s food banks were so that we could donate to them.
To my surprise, there weren’t any consistent ones.
A few churches hold distributions here and there, but none that are reliable enough for people to actually depend on.
So that day, Mitch and I sat down, drew out a plan, and got to work.
