11 Ways to Create Rhythm, Balance, and Ease

05.03.2026

Welcome to the week of the last quarter moon. This week is big surge energy, where you can handle doing a big output of work before we rest next week.

And honestly, I kinda fell into the zone this week because I have a BIG, really great Substack post for you today to see all the ways you can connect your life to the moon.

As someone who's in menopause, I can tell you that this shit ain't for the faint of heart. But the moon (and a little HRT) really does help to create your own plan of resistance and rebellion in a world that demands way too much of women.

Menopause + the Moon: 11 Ways to
Create Rhythm, Balance, and Ease in Your Life

Most women of my generation were never taught to live with our cycles. (Hello, GenX here…)

We were taught to ignore them. To hide them. To tuck a tampon up our sleeve on the way to the bathroom like it was something shameful instead of one of the most normal human experiences in the world. We were taught to take some ibuprofen, keep going, push through the cramps, sit through the meeting, finish the laundry, make the dinner, take care of the kids, show up for everyone else, and pretend our bodies weren’t asking for something different.

And honestly, I don’t think most of us even realized how strange that was at the time. Hell, even in the age of information we’re in - some folks still don’t see it.

The May issue of Illumine is here!

The May issue of Illumine is a love letter to the woman who is done shrinking—done asking for permission, done editing herself down. Let this issue be a reminder that showing up as yourself—fully, strangely, boldly—is the most powerful thing you can do. That authenticity is a homecoming, not a trend. This is the issue that hands you back your own voice and says: you already know.

Playlist: Enya Essentials

If you don't know this already, there is something about the cadence of the music of Enya that really helps you hyperfocus if you're ADHD like me. I shared this hack a few weeks ago and a LOT of you told me how much it helped you to get stuff done. Since this week is the big surge energy of the last quarter moon, then this playlist can help you get focused if you need it.

Embrace the big surge energy - and I'm sending you an extra big hug and lots of good vibes cheering you on to do all those things that are important to you.

Love you.
Mean it.
Big time.
xoxo,
gina

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) feminism isn't enough... 05.13.2026 Try as I might, some days the anger just bubbles out of me more than others. And the past week or so has been reallllllly testing my last damn nerve. Because the patriarchy be patriarchy-ing - as the misogyny continues to tear down the foundations that we have fought decades for. Which only reaffirms my belief that me transitioning from feminism to misandry is not just valid... it's gonna be needed so we can...

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) New moons = real rest 05.10.2026 I don't know about you... but the chaos of the past week is weighing HEAVY on my soul. Maybe it's because I'm a southern girl through and through... or maybe it's just the unrelenting bullshit that we're fighting on a daily basis. But friend... I'm tired. And I know you are, too. Which is why my entire purpose for this week is to REST like it's my damn job. New on SubstackA Matriarchal Guide to Resting Under the...

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) Every tiny action builds momentum 05.06.2026 I found an interesting article this week by Angela Saini on National Geographic. It's not even new... its from 2024. But it talks about how the patriarchy is a system of oppression that isn't as neat to digest as most people think. And it got me to thinking... we don't have to live this way. When women finally decide to put their foot down and live a different way, the world changes. So this week we're...
