soaking up the full moon

06.28.2026

Tomorrow is a full moon, and with summer finally here, it feels like an omen of good things to come.

Mercury also goes into retrograde this week, but honestly I'm not scared of it. Yes, it means that technology will be wonky and communication with others might be a little tricky... but it's also a time for reflection.

Lately I've realized that whatever you're looking for is what you'll find... and if you use these tools to only look for what needs to be fixed, you'll end up with a never-ending to-do list.

But.... if you look for what's good, you might be surprised that illuminating the parts of your life that hold joy, hope and all things matriarchy... you can find those, too.

Most mornings, I wander through the garden with a mug of tea in my hand just to see how everything is coming along.

I usually have some vague idea that I am assessing the situation. I need to see what might require my attention later, whether something needs water, if the tomatoes need tying up again, or if one crop has finally finished and made room for another. Some mornings, the garden requires very little from me. Other mornings, I can tell before I have made it past the first raised bed that I am going to be out there awhile.

The July issue of Illumine is here!

The July issue of Illumine arrives rooted and reaching, green at the edges and golden at the heart. This is the issue that asks you to stop measuring your growth by what's visible, press your hands into warm soil, and let the living world remind you what you already know.

Playlist: the soft summer

Most mornings you'll catch me in the garden, but come afternoon, you'll probably find me in my rocking chair on the porch. I might be snapping green beans or shelling peas, or I might just be relaxing with a book and a glass of sweet tea. Either way, this soft summer playlist is just that. Simply put, it's music to dilly-dally to.

Hope you find some time to dilly-dally today! ๐Ÿ’–

Love you.
Mean it.
Big time.
xoxo,
gina

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) the loneliness of being a blue dot 07.05.2026 My dear friend Christy is a therapist and we talk about how in her work that every week seems to have a theme. She'll talk with someone on Monday about an overarching issue - and by the end of the week, then a dozen other people will have a similar theme in their sessions. I find the same to be true in the circles in my life, between friends, my social media followers and my SLS community. And right...

The Art of Making Life Magical(the newsletter) Liminal lines on the calendar 05.24.2026 Planning my life by the moon has had some unexpected quirks. And this week is one of them. Because I didn't find this method in a book or on a viral TikTok, I have been living from within the learning and sharing the process with you. Living by the moon? I've been doing and teaching that for years. But putting it down on a paper calendar on with structure and purpose? That's a developing process. When...
